The Ecclesia Collective is a growing relational and ecumenical network of faith communities, church leaders, activists, artists, community leaders and others interested in nurturing grassroots expressions of the Kingdom of God in San Diego. We do this primarily through establishing missional communities, community organizing, spiritual formation, education and training towards a more equitable, sustainable and community-focused way of Christian discipleship in urban San Diego.
The Ecclesia Collective is a non-profit organization and all financial contributions are tax-deductible. We depend upon the contributions of our covenant members, friends and supporters to maintain our website, provide leadership and training to others and fund the variety of campaigns and projects we work on. There are a variety of ways for you to support The Ecclesia Collective.

Speaking Opportunities
Co-founders of The Ecclesia Collective, Jason and Brooke Evans are frequently available to speak. They always love to telling stories of transformation and share with people through sermons, workshops and lectures those things we are convicted about along with tangible and practical ways to participate in the Kingdom here and now. Contact us to schedule a speaking engagement.
Internships and Urban Experiences
The Ecclesia Collective provides regular weekend, week-long and month-long “urban experiences” for those interested in urban ministry, community living, missional communities, urban gardening and the unique issues that face the Tijuana/San Diego region. We are also developing a year-long internship program that will be available for 3 to 4 young people. Interns will live in Upper Room at the Hawthorn House, participate in the life of the community and work part time with a local business, church or non-profit agency. Contact us for details.
Join Our Online Community
You can connect with The Ecclesia Collective online and help spread the word about what we are doing. We accept articles and reviews from people in San Diego to post on our web journal, you can join our Facebook group (or MySpace if you prefer), place a link to any of these on your own blog or website and forward information to friends. The more people know what we are up to and participate online, the more we can accomplish together!
Journey With Us
There are a variety of ways you can get involved in the rhythm of life we are trying to create together. “How does this ’support’ the Collective?” you ask. We need each other! The more we all learn to share our relationships and resources the better off we’ll be. We’re not trying to build an institution or a brand. There are enough of those out there already. But we do believe that the more of us working together inside and outside of those groups we already have commitments to and history with the better off we each will be and the better of San Diego will be for it.
The Journey Together
If you live in the South Park neighborhood, come and join the Hawthorn House on Sunday nights. On Sundays, we share a meal, stories from our lives throughout the week, read and contemplate Scripture together, pray, celebrate the Lord’s Table and do our best to help each other devote our lives to Christ and his Kingdom come.
If you don’t live in the neighborhood, we can direct you to other communities that are a part of our greater network. But maybe you’re interested in starting your own community. We would love to come alongside you and journey with you as you discern this. We are currently doing this with friends starting communities around San Diego, North Carolina and New Jersey.
The Journey Inward
If you are not in a place to start or join a community we can still be on this journey together. Commit to living differently, commit yourself to something to (or akin to) our manifesto and the Hawthorn House covenant and follow the Christian calendar through prayer and Scripture reading with us. The more of us that choose to seek out an alternative way of living and following Jesus, the better off we all are, including the created world.
The Journey Outward
You can also join one of our campaigns, events or projects through organizing, promoting… you name it! Whether it’s an annual event such as Make Something Day or La Posada sin Frontera, or ongoing projects such Stop Caste Now or Glocal Teach-In’s, we’re always eager to partner with people passionate about these things.
